We managed to get tickets for the england rugby game against the all blacks in christchurch, so upon arrival in queenstown on friday, we hired a few cars ready for our road trip. 18 june, franz joesph glacier day. Today we walked up the glacier about 8 miles in all of walking up, across and down the glacier. We got to the glacier face about 10.30 clipped on our clampons to our hiking boots, clampons are spiked soles for the ice by the way. Then we started our accent up the glacier.
