Early morning breakfast at the top of the hotel Trevi Collection at 715.
Downstairs for pick-up to Vatican City tour. Our Guide R.R.R.Roberta, very passionate and knowledgeable. Great works of art by Michaelangelo and Rafaele. Michaelangelo was chosen despite no painting experience because he was a sculptor and could bring a sense of 3D to the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Rafaele died when he was only 28 and his students completed his works in the papal apartments with inferior quality. Very large crowds everywhere. Sistine chapel breathtaking. Michaelangelo was a genius. Went through St Peter's Basillica and then St Peter's square.
Tour ended at lunch. Taxi back to hotel and had to have a sleep.
Went out in the afternoon to supermarket. Trapped in there for nearly an hour, heaviest downpour seen. They had to close the security shutters to stop the water coming in and flooding the place. Mariska makes a prosciutto and cheese roll to eat while we wait to get out.
Walk the local streets later for shopping, all named brands so expensive.
Dinner at the pasta bar round the corner.
