Hello civilisation, yes we are back in the USA. We flew continental from Panama to Houston and then Houston to Los Angeles. It was ad to leave Ange and Drew and the challenge of Central America is now complete - we have visited every country in North America except one.
Pop quiz - name that one country?
We have got some great memories and brilliant stories from our time here, and some of the lesser travelled countries are definately the best - we both loved Nicuragua, and Caye Caulkner amoung others.
It was a long journey - since we left the apartment at 9am and didn't arrive in LA until 10.30PM. We had booked a car through Alamo and honestly it was so easy - we were out on the road by 11pm. We are also driving another Dodge Caliber - the same car we have had 3 times already on our world trip! Just seems to keep being given to us. Dave drove until 3am - mainly because we needed some distance between us and LA that night. We stayed on the Californian border in a place called Needles.
After a well deserved sleep in a cheapy motel, we headed through Flagstaff - which by the way is a really cool little town on the old route 66 - we may have to stay here one day as it looked exceptional. From here we headed up and into Monument Valley.
Although Dave lived in the states for a while and travelled extensively through the mid west he had never been to this place - so we were both very excited. Its located just on the border of Arizona and Utah, in a Navajo Reservation. This is a place you see on all the ad's for America similar to the Grand Canyon in vastness but its a plateau with a cluster of huge sandstone buttes, with the largest reaching 1000ft Its a magnificaent specticle to see, and we got there just before as the sun hit the rocks as it lowered. Beautiful.
