After a 6:30am dash from our cabaña to the Isla Holbox ferry we arrived back on the mainland at 8am and then jumped on a bus to our next stop in Tulum, some 300+ km away south. This commences our journey south, which from this point will continue roughly in this direction until we run out of land in Chile. The few days we spent in Isla Holbox off the north coast of Mexico was our first real experience of the ´wet season´. After a 6 hour overnight bus journey, we arrived at the town of Chiquita at 5:30am Saturday morning. Then jumped on the ferry at 6am to take us to Isla Holbox, an island off the North coast of Quintana Roo state within the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
