Today we decided to go out into the Gulf of Mexico and swim with the biggest fish in the world. The Whale Shark.
These are around 10-12m in length, weigh upwards of 20 tons and have massive mouths that they love to open wide and swallow anything that is in their path....which could include your fearless travel bloggers....
So an early start in the boat, then a crazy 2 hour ride out to sea, the further we got out the bigger the waves became, we got some air on many occasions, with people flying everywhere, water flying everywhere and Emilys stomach almost going everywhere.
When we arrived at the spot it took a while to spot the whales, then it was suit up and in you go!
Went in the water and swam for a bit, then looked down and the most amazing thing ever swam right under us, hard to explain the feeling of being next to such a massive animal - Really exciting but also really scary!
We went in for a second time and Emily managed to swim alongside one for a good length of time, while Dave was further back and got clobbered by its tail (the fin itself is bigger than him)
As you can probably tell it was all very amazing.
The trip back was eventful in that the trusty thunder, lightning and heavy rain came in and we all got super wet, but almost on cue a dolphin appeared next to us and entertained us all with some nice dolphin swimming.
Got back and crashed out in the hammock.......quite an exciting day!

Pauline Is this your idea of looking after my daughter, because it certainly isn't mine?! Dolphins I understand, but dirty great, person eating monsters - no. Do not do anything like this again! I know you are out of my reach at present, but you cannot escape me for ever, so look after her!
