Visited old hacienda today (massive colonial house, factory and previous Hennequen (cactus) plantation). It has been left to decay since the plantation was shut down in the 50s, with just a few additional beams put in place to shore up the structure. went to a 2nd Maya site today - massive temples poking out of the top of the jungle. Every meter or so are big fat iguanas waddling around. You are allowed to scamper over the ruins as you please - none of your english handrails. You can even go inside some areas, though it is a bit perilous (and indian jonesy) as their are hundred of birds inside waiting to poo on your head.
