Exmouth and flash floods
Exmouth has been one heck of an experience and not gone totally to plan! Well there's no surprise there then. I'll expand this blog later when more time hopefully is available
Firstly, we're still here several days after we'd intended, but planning to leave tomorrow as long as the road is opened and the wind that has now picked up doesn't blow us over.
In summary we've seen some fantastic scenery at Yardie Creek and Shotover Gorge, swum with whale sharks (amazing), snorkelled in the coral, sat totally on our own on Turquoise Bay beach (a beautiful and well known beach with soft sand, blue seas, coral and fish.) at sunset. Seen Ospreys at close quarters. Met some real local characters and another super Italian/Pakistani couple who'd travelled up from Perth
We also experienced the tail end of cyclone Jack which forced the stoppage to the search for the missing Malaysian plane. When it hit land where we were it dumped 206 mm of rain in 24 hours. We nearly got caught between two floods and couldn't get back to the camper one night. Angie tok some footage which can now be seen on a Facebook page set up. We are the UK tourists.

We crossed one floodway OK and got stuck at a second where a police car had got stuck. Turned back and found a raging torrent 1-2 metres deep where we'd crossed just 15 mins earlier and then turned back again and crossed where the police car had got stuck. A bit nerve wracking.
The Varey's have once again succeeded in bringing rain and severe weather to parts of the world in need. Certain family and friends will testify to our reputation.
The only road out of Exmouth was closed for a couple of days but that's given us a chance to fix a couple of things on the van, water pipes and brake lights.
Still got difficulty getting more photos on the blog, but watch this space.
