Day 65 & 66 - 11 & 12 September
Monday- We left Yardi homestead heading north. Although slightly disappointed, we gave up on the possibility of sleeping on the beach within the National Park, apparently you can book these sites 12 months in advance. We stopped into a bay on the way up and walked over some Sand dunes to see what we could see/sea. More exquisite beaches, sun, sand, clear turquoise waters! Picturesque beauty! Took some family photos on the dunes.
.
JD wanted to try fishing off the rocks on the northern most point. The beach there had hundreds of track marks leading from holes in the sand to the water, we were sure they were turtles tracks even though it wasn't quite time for the hatching.
No luck fishing so we headed back to get a spot in the Big 4 camp ground in Exmouth, unfortunately the site was right by the playground, where a lady who had an uncanny resemblance to Nanny McPhee stared at us continually until we could bear it no longer so we loaded into the van to have a Q.L.D. looking over the water at the Pier. Great idea and it meant JD could drop a line in but, what was becoming a trend, the only one having any luck catching any fish was a very energetic dolphin.
The pier sits directly out front of the Mandalay hotel where Tim and Fidge had recommended us to go for dinner so we did just that and it was absolutely beautiful.
.
Tuesday-Exmouth - The following day was a quiet day, started off with another unsuccessful fishing trip to the pier, did a little window shopping, and had coffee where JD did was shat on by a cockatoo. A man told him it was good luck and that he should buy a lottery ticket, which he did. Back to camp, we moved the van away from the playground, did a few loads of washing, kids entertained themselves chatting to the emus wandering round the camp, babysitting other youngsters in the park and we ended the day wandering up to the Adrift Cafe to have some dinner outside in the dark.
