Preamble : This report is created by today's roving reporter - namely me George Stephen. The blogger in charge is too excited to create today's report. I say "today's" but when complete we will be on our way across the English Channel towards the Bay of Biscay so this will not be published until we reach Lisbon and find free Wifi. The Wifi connection on the boat is not very fast or reliable and that we are not availing ourselves of the service has nothing to do with the fact that it is not free.
However, enough of this let me get on with today's episode. We stayed overnight in a hotel in Southampton. The alarm was set for 7am because there were still a few things required for the trip. The hotel is situated next to a 24 hour McDonalds. It was a waste of time setting an alarm. Every hour there seemed to be another party of yobs on their way home feeling in need of a burger and discussing their order at the top of their voices. Gave up trying to get back to sleep at 6:30am and joined the throng for a cup of coffee. Yesterday we had shopped around for a place to have breakfast since we didn't just fancy the continental offered by the hotel. Micky Dees was kicked into touch when madam spied an IKEA store just across from our hotel. Yes, you've guessed it an IKEA FAMILY breakfast at £2-25 each with free coffee. But wait, disaster the restaurant in the store did not open until 9:30!!!
After shopping for some of those last minute things she forget to take we were third in the queue for the opening of the IKEA restaurant. After that we searched for the Apple Store so that we could use their Wifi to set up Danuta's early Christmas IPad Air 2. (Note the Free Wifi connection at the hotel was pretty slow and the premium service cost money - £3). An hour and a half later we were on our way back to the hotel to get a taxi to the Ocean Terminal, check in and through security and onto our cruise ship Adonia. Oh, I forgot I did go to the Post Office to see if they had certain items I need for my collection - no luck.
We had lunch and then went to our cabin to unpack some of the cases. Then up to the Crow's Nest for the sailaway cocktail. We sat down at a table with a couple who had sold a Post Office and shop (just like us) but they had done it 7 years ago. Unbelievable! We had a good natter with them about our experiences of running and eventually trying to sell a Post Office. We then went back to finish off unpacking and get ready for dinner - and the rest. Might have to wait until tomorrow to finish off today.
