We caught the bus early to see the "Big Buddha" from Mui Wo on Lantau Island and arrived to yet more stunning views of the islands scattered off Lantau. The 400 steps up to the Buddha itself were well worth the effort. After a short walk through the mountain path we stopped off in a tea farm to have fresh local tea (leaves cut right from the plant).
We looked around the impressive monastery for a while before heading for the ping 360 station to catch the glass bottom cable car to Teung Chen back at sea level. The cable car journey was incredible although not for the woman in with us who was clearly afraid of heights.
A short bus ride to the west coast of Lantau brought us to the traditional town of Tai O. We were lucky to catch the last boat trip of the day as we got off the bus. The trip took us through the houses on stilts in the water, the salt pans, the mangroves and finally to see Lantau's rare pink dolphins in the open ocean. We were fortunate enough to actually see the dolphins which was amazing.
Reeling from an absolutely brilliant day we had a few beers in Red Bar before heading home for some sleep.
