So after a 13 hour flight on an awesome Virgin plane we arrived in Hong Kong. Ed's friend Holly met us at the airport and took us from the airport on Lantau island into the centre of Kowloon for a wonder round the bright lights of Hong Kong via the uber efficient underground system.
We had our first (and rather comical) experience of chopsticks with some shredded chicken, noodle and rice soup and a cup of mango tea but after some more exploring (which included the most comical street dancer of all time - video footage to follow) we realised we ought to get back to Lantau to our hotel. After the excitement of seeing a buffalo on the taxi ride and the lush Silvermine Bay Hotel we retired to bed at about 2am for some much needed rest.
We awoke this morning (Friday) early and went for a swim. Although I was greeted by the view in the picture and glorious sunshine unfortunately the pool wasn't quite so warm as the sun hadn't been on it long at all. Nothing a big breakfast couldn't sort out though!
After checking out we made our way back to Mong Kok in Kowloon to check into the not so luxurious A-Inn hostel. A small room that barely fits two singles and a bunk bed and a toilet come shower will be home for the next two weeks. I'm sure we will spend most of our time out an about but the continuous banter will no doubt make this hostel a home. We are going out for seafood and beers at Temple Street Market tonight with Holly and her friends.
