So the past couple have days have been pretty cultural with a few more £1 beers thrown in from time to time. Where to start? We went to the temple of 10,000 buddhas which was incredible. In Sha Tin it offered some incredible views of The New Territories as the sun set and had some amazing spiritual temple rooms full of incense (not to mention 10,000 different Buddha statues).
We went over to Central to do some much needed exploring as this is the main place to get ferries to the various islands. At night in Tsim Sha Tsui you can overlook the skyline on the opposite island where the buildings put on a light and laser show and then venture to the Hollywood style avenue of stars for some celebs you've never heard of but cool photo ops with Jackie Chan statues.
To really submerse ourselves in new experiences and local culture we have partaken in trying some local delicacies. From dim sum (Chinese tapas) that included chicken feet and BBQ pork buns to sushi in Red Bar. Red Bar is on the 6th floor of a ICF building and offers great views of the city. The ICF were forced to hand over an entire floor to be a public place after failing to comply with Feng Shui building regulations. All buildings must allow the "dragons breath" to flow through the city.
Today we woke early and went to Cheung Chau, a small island just off Lantau. Here we walked the mini great wall of china and eat some food looking out over the fishing boats. Although we spent some time on the idilic beaches the option of swimming was obliterated when we spotted the sign explaining that the shark net had been taken in for maintenance and life guard patrol revoked.
We have made a hit list of things to do before we leave and are starting to plan days a bit better so expect some more posts soon. We are all having an awesome laugh and have got numerous hilarious photos and videos (Styles brothers have this thing for photography). I wish it were possible to put them all up and share every anecdote (haggling for Ed, Ed poking a businessman in the head, Christians new massage technique, my documentaries or Owens slip of the tongues to name a few) but I look forward to sharing them with you all when I return.
