The alarm went off at 7am after not much sleep. We organised a new plan. Carcassone is one of those places I have always wanted to see but it will have to wait until later in life. With the last few days rushing by we hadn't been enjoying it too much. So we reevaluated and have decided to wear the cost of accommodation in Carcassone and book somewhere closer. Well we won't really be out of pocket as the tolls and fuel to get there would probably be more than a nights accommodation. So we picked a town called Martigues, booked accommodation and headed off. We could now take it easy so we made our way along the beach. It was a perfect temp of 21 degs with no breeze around. The sky and ocean were perfectly blue and our mood was much better. The drive from Nice to Cannes was just a show of wealth with the houses, private planes, yachts and cars. The whole coast just reeks of wealth. We stopped in Cannes for an explore which was another beautiful place, but not on the same scale as Nice. We found the building where all the stars go for the film festival so snapped away. Then continued on through the picturesque south of France until we arrived at our digs for the night. It has been a relaxed day and we only have about 50 km's to drive tomorrow. A nice easy night tonight and we will be recharged. I do have some very sad news though. In my rush to get our car out of the parking lot before the required time I dropped my backpack. Sadly inside was a 1 litre bottle of Jim Beam. It smashed and the bourbon spilled all through my clothes. It has been a pain to clean but hopefully tomorrow we can get to a laundromat. But what makes this so tragic is I hadn't even cracked the seal. A very very sad day indeed.
