So it has arrived ...... the last day of our great American adventure ....... The day dawned with beautiful blue clear skies and after breakfast and packing as much as I could we headed for the "cool" pool as the kids call it. I took up my position on the beach chair with book in hand while the kids hired some tubes and hit the water. Lunch was had on the pool deck - beef sliders and mudslides ( beef sliders are tiny burgers - three to a plate - mini hamburgers if you like) and then back to the poolside for another couple of hours until the colour of skin sent us inside. We are all sporting a slight pinkish tinge but no major burning !!
Showers all round and then off to the mini golf across the road for 36 holes before dinner!! Every 6 minutes or so the volcano around which the mini golf is set out explodes scaring the life out of all golfers - quite amusing really. I the way there we visited a gift shop where my shopaholics (Adrian and Kate) found another tshirt each and I convinced Jack to find a shirt that we would pay for!!!
Dinner was at Santa Fe and was its usual brilliant self. It is one of the few places where we could order an entree (main) that was a reasonable size. The 6oz filet was a perfect size and the vege sides were cooked in some Aric and something else and was scrummy - broccoli, zucchini, squash, baby carrots and snow peas! Healthy as! Probably a bigger serve than I should have but not ginormous. And as for the margaritas at $1.99 .. I had my share as I know that they are now off the menu for a long time. We popped into Walgreens which s a pharmacy / grocery store/ liquor store and found that 1kitre bottles of tequila, barcardi etc are about 13.99 plus tax! No wonder cocktail are so cheap!!!!
Home for cards and the last load of washing - no dirty clothes coming home- yay for me!!!
Kate tells me that when I blogged our day at Universal I failed to mention Fear Factor live. As with American Idol Universal runs a live version of Fear Factor several times a day.we lined up to see it and watched people who had auditioned do FF things. They also called for volunteers and both Katie and Jack were selected. Their job was to try and distract the competitors by shooting foam balls at them. They didn't really distract her but certainly hit her quite a few time. It was a job where they had o co-operate and it was great to watch them work really well as a team. Impressive!!!
