SUNDAY 20th MAY 2012
LAST DAY IN LONDON!
Spent a hour or so in the local launderette this morning getting our washing done! Quite an experience trying to find enough change for the machines, finding empty machines and then finding out how to use them! But a friendly old local bloke, who was doing his MONTHLY????? wash set us straight and we had a coffee while we waited for the cycles to run their course!
It is our last full day in London today and so we spent a while repacking our VERY disorganized cases before meeting up with Taz and getting a bus down to Harrods which was only five minutes down the road. Being a Sunday there were heaps of people about and we pushed through the throngs of shoppers to have a look at the famous store and all the goodies it sells!
The well heeled were all shopping away, paying ridiculous amounts for clothes and jewelry etc., and we gawked at the fine wines, food and stuff! Sue looked at the baby stuff and was horrified to see hundred pound price tags on all the gear! No new clothes for baby Allan from Harrods! Ha ha!
The pet section had us laughing with all the gear available for the all the little doggies, and there were plenty of old ladies lined up waiting to have their pooches preened!!!!
We had to be in Leicester Square at around 4pm to see our West End show, so we said our goodbyes to Taz and caught the train back to our hotel!
A quick change into some better clobber and was off again to the Prince Edward Theatre in Leicester Square for a pre dinner drink - made the mistake of having it at the theatre instead of one of the many pubs! Hideously expensive!
Our half price seats were eighteen rows back from the stage and in a great position (thanx Katie) and we were spellbound by one of the most amazing stage shows I have ever seen! We all had the BEST time! The audience all interacted with the performance and it was all over way too soon!
We had dinner at a place close by and then reluctantly headed home to our hotel! Our time in London is over!!! b*****!!!
Those who know me will know I don't get too enthusiastic about something unless it is pretty special, but I have LOVED London and all it's history and atmosphere! Our five days have flown by and I reckon I could easily spend another week here! Our hotel (the NH Kensington) has been a ripper choice! A great room in an even better location - thoroughly recommended!
So tomorrow we pick up our car and head off for some sightseeing! Looking forward to this part of the trip immensely, can't wait to see all the sights that we have seen on TV etc for so long!
