BATH and on to WALES
Left Weston-Super-Mare in good time and made our way to Bath, found a car park, paid about five pounds for two hours parking and set off to look at this beautiful old city!
The buildings and gardens were superb and the two hours flew by! Such history in these old cities, all the stories and legends that we were taught in school happened right here!!!! There were thousands of tourists about with all the narrow cobbled streets full of tour groups or intense historians, but we had no trouble moving about and we saw a goodly part of all the attractions!
A drive up to a hill adjacent to the city gave us a tremendous view of all the old buildings stretching around the opposite hills and down into valley where Bath sits!
Wanting to be reasonably close to Fishguard for our night stop, we took the M4 motorway towards Wales, crossing over the very impressive Severn Bridge (the only toll we have paid so far - six pounds!) and then bypassing Cardiff and Swansea on the way through to Llenalli where we checked a couple of places before settling for the good old Premier Inn!
The scenery along the drive here was just as beautiful as it was yesterday - we are absolutely loving it - and once again the motorway got us here in good time! We drove around the town for a look and had a coffee by the beach! Well there was a sort of beach, but no water as the tide was way out, not due in until evening! Not sure what enterprise keeps this little place alive but I guess some fishing and support for surrounding rural industry keeps it alive! We had passed some large industrial areas a fair way back, so maybe some folk work there.
As it was only about four o'clock we had a chance to do some washing before our customary drinks and meal! Food and drink are much cheaper than we expected - everyone says how dear England is - with pints about $8 and a decent meal for about $16, only entry fees and parking spoiling a budget surplus!
