The last few days have been absolutely brilliant. Left our really nice hostel at 7:45am to head out for a 5 hour caving session at the Waitomo caves. Once we were kitted out in full on wet suit, helmet aand funky shoes we abseiled 35m down a drop to get into the caves. The two guys taking us around were Dunnie and Randy and were a right laugh. Once in the cave we went on a flying fox which took us even further under ground. We were then treated to some tea and biscuits to give us some energy. For the rest of the trip it was a mixture of rafting through the caves on rubber rings, crawling through small holes and climbing waterfalls. As if that wasn't enough excitementfor one day, straight from the caves the group headed to Lake Taupo so we could do the 15,000ft sky dive (the highest you can do in the world). We went up in groups of 5 and it was bloody nerveracking. Each jumper had an instructor and a camera man to catch the whole jump. Once you ae kitted out you meet your team and then get in the smallest plane I have ever been in. On the way up there everything is a blur and at 10,000ft you have to be given oxygen, which makes that little bit more
nervous. Once at 15,000ft they open the door and you are gone, falling towards the ground at 200kph. It is the most amazing feeling. After you have been free falling for 60secs your shoot opens and you glide to the ground and just enjoy the stunning views of Lake Taupo and the mountains. We had perfect views as the sun was just setting. Once you land on the ground the adrenalin is pumping through you and you get the biggest buzz. I have a DVD of the whole jump, which is entertaining viewing. It was a great experience and worth every penny.
