I have just arrived back from completing my 3rd and final bungy, so Mum and Nan you can both sleep easy at night now. This one was called Nevis and is the daddy of bungy jumps as it involves an 8 second freefall of 134m, a long way! We left the bungy station at 10am and all got in the mini bus to set off on our 45min journey to the jump site. The ride up their was scary enough as we were driving along cliffs and all sorts and we were obviously all scared stiff. With this jump the heaviest person goes first so I was greatful to be a fairly big lad and I was given the honour of being the first jumper out of everyone. Once we had our harnesses on, me and the rest of the big lads, Mike, Colin, Liam and Jimbo made our way to the cable car and went across to the pod. This was unbeleivably nerve racking so we all got in a huddle and no one would look down as it was one mighty drop. When we got to the jump pod I was bricking it and just wanted to get it done, so I had my feet straps put on and went for it. Stepping towards the edge I just grabbed onto the side and waddled out with the instructor holding me from behind. Then it was 3...2...1...jump! The feeling as you are falling through the air with the ground coming towards you is out of this world. You literally go from an intense state of nervousness to best feeling ever in a couple of seconds. At the top of the 2nd bounce on this jump you have to pull a cord so you flip upright and sit while you are winched back to the pod. I thought this was going to be so scary but because you have a complete feeling of elation you just enjoy the moment. Once you are actually back in the pod you are on top of the world, the feeling cannot be described but it is like nothing else. Once I had been detached from the bungy I tried to reassure the other boys as looking at how nervous they looked actually made me feel quite sick. This is when you appreciate going first as you can just relax and enjoy watching everyone else jump. Watching the faces of the other boys as they arrived back in the pod was amazing and I could have happily stayed there all day. It sounds so cheesy but when you arrive back everyone is hugging each other, shaking hands and embracing. It sounds over the top but its just like you have just won the World Cup! After all of us heavy weights had finished we got in the cable car and made our way back to land. I am now a bit gutted I won't be doing another bungy for a long time but then releived I can now relax. The Thrillogy has been completed!
