La Spezia is absolutely gorgeous !!! Beautiful old buildings and a stunning coast line not far from our bed and breakfast. It's a lovely room as well, a ton of space and we are in the center of everything.
Our second night here they had their annual Palio del Golfo- a rowing race between the 13 towns throughout the area. It was very busy- everyone dressed in their teams colors, it was very interesting to watch, and a little confusing as well... So many ballon stands, candy and cloths stalls, they were even selling turtles and bunnies !! They finished the evening with an awesome fireworks show, I have never seen them like that before! Some swirled and jumped and it looked so beautiful over the water.
Today we started to visit the 5 well known towns on the Clinque Terre coastline. First we started with Riomaggiore- houses with pink, blue and yellow coloring and a stunning view of the Tyrrhenian sea, which only got better as we walked the path of lovers lane. We detoured from the walk a bit to go down to the cliffs and check out the water. It took about 30 minutes to get to the best town - Manarola (so far my favorite spot- almost better than Brugge). This town was stunning- walked down to the water and jumped on in ! Water was lovely- it was insanely humid out today! Then had a stunning seafood dinner and had strangers buy us some fantastic Chianti wine. I defiantly want to come back to this town. Next town we visited was Corniglia. We couldn't walk the path there because it got hit with a huge landslide last year, now only 2 paths are functional that connect the towns. This town is very high above sea level so it was a good trek up.... The view was beautiful from the top but I do prefer the towns that are closer to the water so we can jump in !
Tomorrow we are going to concur the last 2 towns and hopefully head back to my favorite one- Manarola. I absolutely love it here, the views, the coastline, it's just stunning- and the food is fantastic and very well priced.
Make sure to check out the pictures everyone ! Wish you could be here to see it in person! It is breathtaking... I never want to leave
