I was so excited about going to Kroombit Cattle Station, it is an over night stop for the Oz Experience bus and I loved it!
Upon arriving in the middle of nowhere we were greeted with a steak and salad...what a welcome! We then had to decide whcih activities we wanted to do. I chose to do horse riding and shooting. As many of you are probably aware, i am scared of horses and I dont like not being in control....hence why I love cars so much!
The horse ride was more than just a normal horse ride, we were mustering goats and i can honestly say it was amazing. I had the prettiest horse and we were plodding along making funny noises so that we could round up the goats. My horse was as thick as s***e and I was given a stick to whack its bum as she wouldnt move, probably due to the amount of salad and steak I ate! it was surprising at how quickly I got used to it but i didnt get used to the fact that my horse wouldnt listen to me and i admit to swearing at it more than once! Whilst riding a huge snake almost got my horse and it looked like a brown snake...very deadly and the whole group of us had to move to the opposite side of the field...scary! After mustering the goats I had a go at clay pigeon shooting......for christmas i would like a gun. I loved it so much and I was actually pretty good at it so watch out everyone and make sure you dont upset me!!!!! ha ha
They then taught us lasooing (dunno how to spell it) but i was crap at that so gave up and decided to laugh at everyone else instead. The last thing that they made us do was stand in a circle holding hands and then two people touch a cattle prod and the current travelled all the wasy around the circle, it was such a horrible feeling!
Stinking of horse and being too scared to have a shower with the frogs, lizards and mozzies Sarah and I had a babywipe wash and then went to the hut for dinner. Soup followed by a roast...nothing like my mums roast..cant wait to have one of those!
After dinner was cleared away we listening to the old guy who owns the place chat about how it all came about etc and then he taught us how to use a whip...nice. They had a bucking bronco and the american guy decided to ride it naked so he got some free beer, it was so funny but like a car crash, didnt want to look but had to! Drinking games followed until about 3am and I had to be up at 6am for the bus, i was shattered and the bus journey felt like it took forever! It didnt really matter that I was tired as I was in Airlie Beach for 3 nights before my Whitsundays sailing trip...
