We are off on our great adventure to New Zealand. This will be our second visit, but this time we will only visit the South Island. We are looking forward to five weeks in this beautiful country.

Traveling from Colorado to NZ is not easy on old folks, but we know it will be worth it. We had an 8 hour layover in LA and then a 13 hour flight to Auckland. Then, we had another 90 minute layover during which we walked to a different terminal to board the flight to Christchurch.  

We arrived in Christchurch and met Rachel to pick up the camper and receive our orientation. We located a great grocery store and bought groceries, checked into the campground, unpacked and put away all of our stuff, and went to bed before sundown.  

Amber Park is a wonderful campground set among roses. The manager was very helpful and the facilities are spotless. We'll be back here before we leave for home. Christchurch had two terrible earthquakes, and they are still rebuilding. Rachel said it will take many years before everything is back to normal.
