A busy day today. We got up this morning to go river surfing. This is kind of like rafting except you have a little body board boon stead of a boat. As the girls were allowed to sign up for this I was expecting little class I rapids but no these were class III. If you are in a river looking at a class 3 rapid called the man eater believe me it looks big - look at the picture of the river instead of the girls decked out in double wet suits if you don't believe me. The girls were assigned personal guides that kept a firm grip on their boards through all the rough bits but did I get a personal guide no! About 5 minutes in I thought what am I doing but once it was finished I thought ok that was fun or at least I didn't drown and the kids had a blast. However the afternoon was a slightly (!) calmer activity going on 'the worlds most thrilling jet boat ride. 85 miles an hour through a narrow canyon, spinning with the driver aiming to pass the walls as close as possible. At the half way point the driver said he has only bumped a couple of times but its ok because it's not his boat.....
New year in Queenestown is a Huge thing with lots of fireworks and crowds of people (the place is heaving ) but unfortunately probably our biggest rain of the holidays.....
