Claire's Travels
This evening we decided that it was time to experience a tango...obviously we were not going to be participating, we were simply there to watch the experts at work!
We headed for Cafe Tortoni - one of the oldest cafes in Argentina and it would seem that it hasnt been decorated since it opened! It felt like we had leapt back to the 40's; even the women were dressed in furs etc!
We managed to get the last two seats for the performance, which unfortunately included a fantastic view of a pillar but luckly the dancers were always on the move so it wasnt really an issue. We realised after we sat down that a group of people from our hostel were sitting on the table behind us. Alex (the in the picture) came over and asked if we wanted to go out with them after the show. We werent sure as we hadnt eaten and were getting quite peckish...however its amazing what a bottle of wine can do! We stayed in the cafe until around 2am and then headed to a club called Asia de Cuba.
It was a really fun night! The music was a little varied but good to dance to - which I realised I was in desperate need of! I do like a good dance and it had been a while!
We got home at about 5am and as we had to get our boat to Uraguay at 8am we decided that there was no point in going to bed, so we just showered and had breakfast and headed off for the port!
