We left Edinburgh in the rain, arrived here in York in sunshine, had a good look around, went to the York Minster Cathederal, that is an eye opener, we spent a couple of hours here, we went into the crypt, and saw when it was Roman times etc. was a great display, we then went to there National Railway Museum, this was free to get into, (our price) : lol; this was great, it was set out fantasticly, from very old trains, royal carriages etc, japanese bullet trains, eurostar engine, how these are maintained: etc., we were here for a few hours as well,: surprise surprise, when we left the railway museum, yes it was raining, rain for the rest of the night: then it was of to the 'Shambles' in York, this is the very old part of York very old buildings etc. (see the photos) : We fisnished up at a very old 'english pub' for traditional roast tea, with yorkshire pudding, very nice, still not that keen on the yorkshire puddings but they are growing on me, depends who makes them>
7/10/2011: We went to a 'Viking Village' (Yorkvik) today, this was fantastic to see how the vikings lived all that time ago, the village was excavated from under the streets of York, it's a great centre to visit, was very informative. glad we did it, then we spent the rest of the day wandering the 'shambles' it's called retail therapy, we found some good 'op shops' and got some more good bargains.
