Today was our trip to the ABQ Biopark in Albuquerque, NM. Sarah found this place online when we were planning and decided this is where she'd like her birthday outing to be even though it happened after her bday. This place has an aquarium, botanical garden, and zoo. We skipped the botanical garden but did venture into both the aquarium and zoo. After an early morning we arrived at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History just as it opened. Inside we got to learn in detail the nature of both the atomic bomb's development and the history of radiation therapies in medicine (even if it's been ridiculous in the past, as exemplified by the "Revigator"). My dad was particularly excited to meet two of his historic idols- Fat Man and Little Boy. All in all, it was a good start to the day. Next up is...

For dinner tonight we decided we would eat out and try some local cuisine. As we sat outside the state capital trying to figure out where we were going, a local man that worked in the capital stopped and chatted with us about what we were looking for and he ended up giving us a few of his fav choices. The capital of New Mexico was an amazing experience! It was very different from other capitals. I was disappointed that there was not a gift shop as I was looking forward to getting a state souvenir. It was cool to me though because it was circular and not rectangular like most. I had a lot of fun taking funny pictures with my family! The long drive to the "Middle Of Nowhere, New Mexico" was pretty horrible, but after the two long hours of looking at shrubs and rocks, it was worth it! Chaco canyon was really awesome. Seeing all those old villages and getting to walk through them felt like being transported through the time. Although it may not have been an ideal place for a birthday, it was still a sight to see! ~Sarah
