We took our last day at Banff to explore Glaciers! Our tour began with a quick shuttle to the base of the glacier. We then boarded snocoach (big big tires) to the base of the Athabasca Glacier. The glacier is always moving a retreating, leaving different landscapes in its path. We drank fresh glacier water right from the edge of the glacier. Hi, it’s Ryan again and today we went on an 4 kilometer hike to the lake Agnes Tea House. We played hide and seek till about halfway up and Danny’s ankle started to hurt. Mom and I walked faster so we pulled ahead. We stopped so Dad and Danny could catch up and it started raining. We waited for about 10 cold wet minutes and turned around with 1/2 a mile left when we saw Dad and Danny walking up. We all continued to the Tea House and Danny’s ankle hurt more ...

Next stop in Banff National Park had us exploring two lakes- Moraine Lake and Lake Louise. Moraine Lake is not as easy to access by shuttles, so it is a little less crowded. It was by far more beautiful too! The hike (really just a walk) was around the perimeter of half the lake. Just enough to see the amazing blue water. Hi, It’s Ryan. Today we went on a glacier tour in Jasper National Park. We went on a 34% grade road in a snocoach with tires bigger than me! We were not prepared for the cold weather on the glacier. We drank cold,refreshing melted glacier water. I thought I could be a penguin and slide across the snow and ice, I failed miserably and scratched my hands.

Day two was spent on a tour of Lake Minnewanka and the a hike up Johnston Canyon to see some waterfalls. Lake Minnewanka was a shuttle bus away from the campground, but we were able to take a short cut through the woods to save some time. We were able to board the boat with a tour guide that told us of some of the history.
