So forward to our dinner in the Vineyard hotel garden. The sequence of events went something like this:

Reserved a table for 7.30pm
Arrived at 7.30 pm - no table reserved but fortuitously one was available
Apparently the duster used to wipe table was ‘already sanitised’
Totally ignored by all staff for 20 minutes
Waiter finally took order for drinks and, subsequently, food
Nothing further for another 50 minutes
ADOG complained to hotel Duty Manager who said he would report back in 2 minutes. He didn’t
The tuna tartare dish arrived fresh from the fridge!
ADOGs orderbturned out to be a ‘fillet’ of aubergine!!!
LMAGs fillet of beef was cold
ADOG received another (unordered) dish of extremely soggy roll and pulled beef (probably)
ADOG complained again to DM who returned with someone who was said to be in charge of the kitchen.
DM agreed not to charge for the meal!

SHAMBLES!

I think we had a relaxing day around the pool the following day and went to dinner with friends - Elsbeth and Seth - who have a lovely house overlooking a vlei (shallow lake). Seth cooked pork belly on a braai in the kitchen (Nicky - memories of Switzerland) and we stayed the night.

Up reasonably early the next day so we could get back to the hotel to check out and have breakfast - E&S don’t do breakfast!!

The above accomplished, we dropped off our bags at our new guesthouse and, being a nice day, decided to go to the Waterfront. When we got there a fret had come in and it was quite cool and miserable! Many of the shops, cafes and restaurants have closed since we were last here and it is, sadly, a shadow of its former self. We did, however, have a nice lunch of prawns at one of our favourite restaurants which still survives.

Strangely, when we got back to the guesthouse the sun had been out all day. Doh!

Today (Sunday) started cloudy. ADOG had arranged to go driving a Caterham with our friend Mike Nd a few of his local friends. Woke at 05.00 . LMAG stayed in bed!

So ADOG had his drive and breakfast and got back about 11. Tonight we are going back to Basilico for dinner.

We are nearly at the end of our time here on SATURDAY - only 1.5 days to go😢.
