So it’s Saturday. Because all of the Constantia restaurants we wanted to go to are closed on Sunday we had to go a day early. This had the dual effect of doubling A’s birthday celebrations!

We went to the Cellars Hohenort. It is a lovely old 5* hotel and we chose the Greenhouse restaurant. We were a little concerned on arrival as there seemed to be some ‘event’ in the garden. With some odd costumes and model animals around it looked like it might be a children’s’ party. Fortunately it turned out to be a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party charity do!

Our lunch was superb. It is the first time we have had a 5 piece ‘amuse bouche’! There were some incredible tastes throughout the meal and a bit of theatre in serving and presentation - especially the dessert (see pics).

Today (A’s actual birthday) he hit the BIG 70! Wow! We decided to go to the Waterfront and then went out on a catamaran for a really great 1 hour cruise around Table Bay. Then lunch at the Harbour House and we decided to push the boat out and had the fish and seafood platter. We gave it a damn good try but we’re finally beaten by a few pieces of calamari! Hey ho!

It has been a beautiful cloudless day with a temp of 30c. Andy couldn’t think of another place that he would rather have been. Apart from in the bosom of his family. Obvs!

Anyway, that’s another milestone passed so onward and upward!
