Our new accommodation could be described as ‘bijou’. After our spacious apartment at Hout Bay our cottage feels a bit on the small side. We have all that we need though - bedroom, lounge, kitchen/diner, shower room, patio and small garden. We can also use the pool for the main house. We also have a view of the mountain!
Arriving on Saturday, the weather was not great and rained around lunchtime. We did check out Barristers (local pub) and booked Basilico (Italian) for the evening.
Sunday we spent locally having a yummy breakfast at the local coffee shop, lunch in the garden, a couple of dips in the pool and a braai (sirloin steak) in the evening.
Today (Monday) we decided to drive to Langebaan up the west coast and visit en route the National Park. The weather was glorious (cloudless and 37). In the past we have seen some animals in the NP but today we were rewarded with a grey plover, a small mouse and an even smaller . Hardly inspiring!
Langebaan is situated on a lagoon and we walked along the pretty much deserted beach before lunching in a
local beachfront restaurant. We also managed a sunbathe before setting off to beat the afternoon rush hour traffic in CT.
Then sundowners at the Vineyard Hotel which continues to be a favourite spot of ours.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring except that it is going to be a hot one - up in the mid 30s - so copious use of the pool will no doubt be on the menu!
