So Andy decided that there was no way that he could go to the cricket and we tried to give the tickets to our hosts/friends. Heidi (pr.Haydee) said they were going out and insisted that she would deliver us to the stadium so, reluctantly, we agreed. What we/she should have realised was that the traffic would be appalling and she couldn’t get us to the ground. She dropped us off about a 5 minute walk away. That’s 5 minutes if you can walk - and Andy couldn’t - and it took us about 15!
And then once in the ground, another 10 minutes to find the seats, 5 minutes to find a beer and 5 minutes to get back to the seats! This wasn’t doing a lot of good to A’s knee!
The match started at 6pm. SA won the toss and put the Aussies in to bat. Even Andy knows that on an evening game at Newlands, you always want to bat first and bowl second! Anyway, the Aussies were quite good and scored 193 off 20 overs!
SA were abysmal and with the score on 67 for 6 we decided to call it a night and get an Uber home. That was surprisingly easy in spite of the fact that a lot of locals were all doing the same thing and by the time we got home SA were 96 all out. We put it down to the fact that Lin has never supported a winning team while watching at Newlands!
The only upside of the evening for Andy was that he could send Lin off to queue for drinks and food while he stayed watching the cricket!
Thursday dawned grey and cool and windy and was forecast to stay that way. We did a bit of sun chasing late morning and found it in Camps Bay! We had been planning to have a braai in the evening but as it was so chilly decided to defer to Friday and go out instead to the Wijnhuis. This is not like the Wijnhuis of old and lacks atmos but, to be fair, the food was good!
To digress slightly, for those that remember Melissa’s has closed!
Today we went to Muizenberg for a walk along the beach. Of course, due to matters beyond our control (Andy’s knee) it was more of a general saunter and a sit in the sun. Then onto Kalk Bay for a whistle wetter. This afternoon has been sitting in the garden with a dip in the pool and, after sundowners, our deferred braai.
Getting to the end of hols now with only a few more days to go. Tomorrow we are out for Andy’s birthday lunch (a day early) as we had decided to go to one of the Constantia restaurants which all close on Sundays!. We now have to decide what to do on his birthday!

PS Knee update. Knee no. 1 is reasonably OK now. Knee no. 2 is improving. He can walk a little way, especially if there is a promise of alcohol at the end!
