A great little seaside village with a natural harbour at the mouth of the Fowey river. Today we headed for the St. Austell area and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Again our GPS system wanted to take us on a weird route but we are learning to ignore some of the directions. Drove over to St. Agnes on the coast to do a coastal cliff top walk. There are plenty of them to do down this way. Had a bit of trouble finding the start of the walk but eventually got there. It was a really nice day and great walk although we did not go as far as we would have iiked. The path got a bit too close to sheer cliff drops for Bruce to continue but we had done a fair bit of it. Not a really great day today with a forecast for rain. We thought we would visit our first coastal town of Cornwall - Falmouth. It was the perfect day to visit the National Maritime Museum which had a really diverse collection including a temporary (2 year) section on Viking Voyagers and their activities, lifestyles and inaccurate stories about them - like they did not have horns on their helmets. Before heading off to Truro we wandered up to Buckland Abbey, the home of Sir Francis Drake. He bought the already converted Abbey with the treasure he had plundered from the Spanish. Quite a large place for a family home as you might imagine. Enjoyed wandering through it which also included seeing a self portrait of Rembrandt.
