First stop on our way to Bideford was to look for the Polkinghorne Manor in Gwinear. We found it although it is now owned by the Laity family for some time now. Anne's mother's maiden name was Polkinghorne and it is thought that her family came from this area of Cornwall. We did not venture down the lane but instead wandered through some graveyards nearby none of which disclosed any relations, which we suspect might be in a private graveyard on the farm's site. ...
