Cuba - More than old cars
Headed off to London to catch a boat down the Thames to Greenwich. Needed to test our sea legs out for the river cruise in a weeks time. We knew the river was tidal but did not realise how big the difference would be between low and high tide - a lot. Greenwich is home to GMT, the National Maritime Museum, Queen's House, Cutty Sark, Royal Observatory and much more. To do it all properly in a day would be impossible so we only touched on a bit of it especially as we needed to get back for the match between the ABs and Pumas in the early evening.
Had a very good commentary in the boat on the way down. Upon arrival we had lunch then wandered up to the observatory where we went through the museum. The evolvement of the measurement of time and navigational aids was very interesting and we could easily have spent more time there. Outside we had to queue up get our picture taken on the Prime Meridian. We skipped the Planetarium as there would not have been enough time to see this and Queen's House which we had planned on visiting. Unfortunately Queen's House was closed from July 2015 to July 2016! We decided that this was a sign telling us to get back to Jane's to watch the game live so we did.
A bit stressful watching the test between the ABs and Pumas but the result was ok. The gamet turned out to be almost a carbon copy of the test between the 2 sides earlier in the year.
There won't be an entry for the blog tomorrow as we are meeting some friends of ours we have not seen for 25 years. Derek used to work with Bruce at Databank and although we have kept in touch we have not been able to organise a get together until now.
