Popped into Dampier on our way out of Karratha, to visit the Red Dog monument. A bit of a special moment for Emma, as she really enjoyed the movie Red Dog!! Reluctantly left Broome to start heading south, overnight camped at 80 mile beach. Great spot, pristine coast line. Next stop was Karratha, to visit my cousin Tim and his family. Was so lovely to see Tim and meet Leece, Jack, Chloe-Ann and baby Blake. Was lovely to have those newborn baby cuddles with Blake. We enjoyed a lovely BBQ dinner, and tried to work out when we might see one another again!! Hopefully in the East-Tim and Leece!!

Managed the bumpy ride from Cape Leveque to Broome. We stopped in at Beagle Bay to check out the Beagle Bay Church. It's altar is made from pearl shells, designed by the parish people and local aboriginal people in the early 1900s. The church has recently featured in the movie Bran Nue Day. Heading to Cape Leveque-very excited!! The road in was terrible-biggest corrugations ever, washouts, ruts and not very much space to drive on. Leaving Windjana, and heading towards Derby. We were planning on having lunch in Derby, then moving on to Broome for the night. There was an accident on the great Northern Highway-which closed the highway for the day, so we ended up stopping in Derby for a re-supply, overnight.
