A long day driving saw us rolling into Esperance with sunshine on our backs. So good to be away from the rain........at least for a day anyway. Took advantage of the sunshine and headed straight out to Cape Le Grande national park some 60km out of town. We drove into the campground at Lucky Bay and immediately understood where the name came from. Although there was a bit of sea grass washed up on the beach it was a magnificent protected bay with turquoise water. We took advantage of the view with Margaret river cheeses and wines at sunset. A few kangaroos bounded around us as we set up camp for what was a nice night.
The pitter patter of rain woke us up in the morning. So a quick pack up before we headed back into esperance to visit cousin Brady at his house. So lovely to meet Lucy, Jarradin and Lilly and enjoyed a chat and good coffee before meeting the Monks in town. As we drove out we discovered that the highway north was closed due to a traffic accident and would not open until later that night. So we sought an alternative route............after speaking to the police we decided to drive west on an unsealed road that would take us to our destination and bypass the road closure. Unfortunately this was to become our worst day on trip!!!!!!!!!
