Heading further south to Kalbarri. Staying at a working goat/cattle property just outside the township-Murchison House Station. The campground was on the banks of the Murchison River-a lovely spot, not far from the farm house. The station was owned by an Indian prince with an interest in tanks. The boys were thrilled to discover 2 tanks to play and climb all over! And all the kids spent hours role playing war games.
We enjoyed having the farm animals close by, Alpacas, goats, dogs and chooks. It was my birthday on the second day here-and Craig decided I should have an Alpaca ride for my birthday! Was relieved when he revealed my beautiful Monkey Mia pearl necklace, (a beautiful surprise) so I didn't end up on an Alpaca after all. I was spoilt rotten with gifts from the kids, Craig and the Monks. We enjoyed a birthday morning tea in the township of Kalbarri, and a cake in the evening-with way too many candles. Kalbarri is a scenic town, with fantastic red rocks into the ocean and awesome swells. We went and sat for a bit and watch the surfers ride the massive waves, then quickly turn before they smashed on the rocks. Emma was keen to give it a go-pleased we don't have her board, and it was freezing!! Told her she would have to come back when she is older, and I don't know about it!
We loved having a fire to cook on again, as well as having the luxury of a hot shower in the evening. The goats on the property were pregnant-and looking really fat-we checked to see if they had their babies each morning, unfortunately no baby goats when we were there. The kids just loved the station, and took off over the bridge to play and explore, the boys fished, and we generally had a great time. We stayed on a third night, while the Monks started the journey to Perth.
