Similar to Ko Lanta, the water fighting action starts around midday so we had a lazy morning. Sleeping with just a fan was better than we'd expected so we're going to stick with it for cheapness. We got our bag together and filled our water pistols and headed out. It wasn't long before we were drenched! We walked around the moat in the middle of Chiang Mai, it was the craziest scene we've ever witnessed. Street stalls selling food but the seller armed with a water pistol, street stalls selling huge blocks of ice to the passing hundreds of pick up trucks with so many people squeezed in the back and people with buckets on string filling them from the moat. It was mostly locals too, where as in Ko Lanta I think it was nearly an even split between locals and non locals, here you could hardly find anyone non local. Everyone was joining in! We stopped for a little while and sat by the moat, James had seen some insects for sale to eat and wanted to try them. He chose grasshoppers, cooked and then sprinkled with soy sauce he had a few and made me try one, it was disgusting, never again! We then carried on around the moat until we were eventually working our way back to our place. There weren't many restaurants open to have tea tonight as its officially a bank holiday here so we decided to get something to eat here. There was another family in there who started talking to us and it turned out they were from Hull! It's a small world!
