We were up early this morning and down for breakfast, we then had plenty of time to get our bags properly organised for the trip as we were getting picked up between 10 and half past. We then checked out and waited for the bus, apparently it had come for us at 9.30am but obviously we had not been downstairs ready. We sat until 10.20am and the bus came, there was only just enough space with me taking the front seat. We then drove round for a good 20-30minutes to find one more guesthouse with one more person to get in the minibus. We eventually got there and the guy got in, extremely packed we set off for Chiang Khong. After a couple of hours we stopped for a 10 minute break and a stretch before getting back in. When asked how long it would be the driver said three hours, we asked whether we are still going to the white temple and he said oh white temple, yes. I think if it hadn't have got mentioned we probably would have driven past. It didn't take long to get to the white temple and when parked we got out, the driver said we had 10 minutes to look around. We were parked about a five minute walk away anyway. Everyone just ignored him and looked around at their own speed getting back when they were finished. This was the most amazing temple we have seen. It is the brightest white with mirrored mosaic tiles on it, making it shine in the sun. It was a modern day temple with half a metal statue of predator coming out of the grass at the front of it, a sea of hands coming out of the ground and heads attached to trees. It was strange but so cool, inside it was similar rules to most temples and I was given something to cover my knees, in the building there was a monk who was sat cross legged. On the back wall though there was a mural of planets and super heroes such as Spider-Man and superman. It was surreal to see this in this setting. We were so pleased we'd seen this place. Back at the van we waited for the last couple of people to get back then set off again. After another two hours or so we pulled into our place to stay for the night, we had to sign in and show our tickets then were given a room key. The room was extremely basic but we are only here one night so it's fine. Tea was served at 6.00pm, it was rice and a spicy clear soup with chicken, it wasn't great! We sat on a table with two girls from England we had spoken to earlier. We sat talking to them for a while and even after everyone else had left. They had some amazing stories as they'd started their trip in Africa volunteering there. One of them told us how she got mango flies under her skin, which creeped us out, she says she has a video but I'm not sure I want to see! We were all still a little hungry after our meal here so we walked up to the 7 eleven together, we saw a snake on the road for the first time too. When we got back we went straight to bed as its breakfast at 7.00am.
