Being an 'At sea' day we had a chance to sleep in and took it! Besides a coffee we held out until nearly 1pm & headed to the restaurant for a 3 course lunch- despite most only being little serves for each course the mains were still quite substantial (we both had the cottage pie so I avoided the chips & half the potato). After lunch Les Miserables was showing in the cinema which I had been wanting to see so I went to see Hugh Jackman at his finest. It was just about the saddest movie I had seen & I think I had tears streaming down my face for at least half of the film, even managing a small hiccup at one stage! Needing some happy endorphins & calorie burning I headed to the gym about 5.30 to run on the tread mill & was quite impressed when I managed to run for 6 mins straight given I hadn't run on a treadmill since the Antarctica cruise. After about 30mins, very red faced I returned to get ready for the formal night. There was the captains cocktail reception before dinner which ended up not being worth the free drink at all, we lined up in a big queue which snaked around through the casino & had our photo taken at least 3 times before shaking hands with the captain & being sat down in the theatre with no chance of escape while the captain introduced everyone & waffled on. Because it when on for a bit we missed out on the table for two one of the waiters was going to save us. Instead we were sat with another couple who didn't seem interested in talking so it was a little awkward but at least we had 5 courses to entertain us and that it did. I had aubergine & tomato with pesto sauce, then French onion soup with a perfect bowl size crouton slid on top by the waiter, then Norwegian salmon fillet & finally chocolate fudge cake for dessert. After dinner we retired to the bar next to the casino, then soon after our cabin- possibly suffering from food comas!
