Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Arriving in Rome lat in the afternoon, we wasted little time after checking top see the sights. Caught the subway to the Colosseum. We then walked around the Colosseum and the Forum. With darkness now upon us we headed back to the hotel, ready for a big day tomorrow.
Today we visited all the major tourist spots except St Peters and the Vatacian.
The Pantheon is such a engineering marvel. Say the fountains and spanish steps etc. All exceed our expectations.
We were very lucky with the weather. A beautiful sunny, but cold day.
Woke to a cloudy day. We are off to the Vatican and St Peters.
After a short subway ride we are at the entrance to the Vatican Museum. There was no waiting to get tickets.
The Sistene Chapel was breath taking! Spent over 2 hours wandering around trying to take everything in.
Took lots of pictures, but i know they will not be able to show the stunning attention to detail.
After leaving the Vatacian we headed to St Peters. Same again, no queue. The joys of visitng off peak.
St Peters is so amazing inside. Its is massive. It can hold 20,000 people inside.
We then wandered around Roma till our legs would carry us no further.
so we found the nearset subway and headed back to the hotel
One of the many things i like about Roma (and the other cities in Italy we have visited) is you can get a really good Cappuchino for 1 euro. You are not allowed to sit and drink it, you stand at the bar. The price can go as high as 3 to 6 euros if you want to sit.
Yes the Italians can make a good coffe!
Tomorrow we are driving to Pisa. About 350ks. The weather is meant to be raining. Hope it clears up so we can vist the Leaning Tower with umbrellas
