Brenton Kovacs's Travels
The train from Berlin to Frankfurt runs about 15 minutes late due to so called technical difficulties. Still beats the bus, which was going to take many hours more in travel time.
I was surprised at just how quick the weather can change. I walked from my accommodation to the city as it was such a beautiful morning, nothing but blue sky. I stopped in at a shopping mall to have a quick look, less than an hour. Walked outside and what a shock. It was quite dark and the fog was so thick i could not see the top of any buildings. What a dramatic change, and so quick.
Today is much better than yesterday with lots of blue sky. This time i was able to see the city skyline, and it has some neat buildings. Lots of action at the christmas markets, and plenty of people about. Romerberg is a really nice square with plenty of old buildings right in the middle if the city. The concentration of shops is along a pedestrian only street about 1 klometre long, and it is always packed with people. Head off this street and most of the areas are deserted.
I took a tram out to visit Klassikstadt. Its a car place where there are cars for sale, display and repair shops all in a huge old brick building. Not as good as the one in Berlin. So after the visit rather than take a tram back i walked back, about 10ks. There were plenty of luxury car dealerships along the way, and they all offered free coffee. So i took full advantage of this and enjoyed the warmth and the hospitality.
Next stop is Heidelberg.
