Brenton Kovacs's Travels
having to get up early to be at the train station by 7,25am was a bit of s struggle. But as its the only direct train to Graz, we had no other options. Another border crossing means another passport check, no problems this time. The train arrives in Graz and we walk 15 minutes to our accommodation.
The sun is out so we head out to see the sights in Graz. Most things are closed as its new years eve.
We rent a car for 2 days so we can head out for a few road trips. The first day we head to Hallstatt, Bad Goisern and Bad Ischl. I thought i would show Alan these places that i have visited, all of which i wanted to see again one day. We stopped in Bad Goisern and meet up with some people who i stayed with. They were so pleased to see me and and Alan. We sat, talked and enjoyed coffee for a few hours before heading to Bad Ischl. So good to see them again.
A picnic lunch next to the lake overlooking Hallstatt, even if it was only 1 degree. On the way home it starts to rain, with snow predicted for later tonight. Would be nice to see snow, as the places we visited should have been covered in snow.
Our little road trip was around 500ks, in a nice new Skoda Oktavia diesel.
Snow began to fall in Graz, and gave the city a wonderful look. We also had a bit of a cold snap as the warmest it got to one day was minus 7. We still managed to get some good walks in, but we did have to find the occasional shop or cafe to warm up in.
Next stop Vienna.
