Thursday 25th July- lovely meal at the Pump Room for our final night out in Bath last night. Today we caught the bus from Bath to Gatwick - changing at Heathrow. Wednesday 24th July- lovely summers day - our last day really as we travel to Gatwick tomorrow to catch flight home Friday. We decided on a leisurely day - cruise up the Avon to Bathampton - a weir and mill ( no longer operating). Bridge built 1870 - toll was a penny - still a toll bridge. Tuesday 23rd July-last few days of travels- booked bus from Bath to Gatwick for Thursday - fly home Friday- arrive late Saturday. Hot today. Monday 22nd July- off we set to Bath by train- changed at Didcot Parkway. Room not ready so left luggage and went for a walk - beautiful town - white limestone buildings evoking the grandeur of 18th century life amongst the cobbled laneways. Sunday 21st July- the hotel is conveniently near the colleges- so we walked down to where most of them are- apparently 38 in number!! Did not get to all - and we couldn’t go in to the grounds of any - just peered through the doorways. Broad St was great as in close proximity was : Sheldonian Theatre, Bodleian library, Trinity college, past Queens, Magdalan college - all so beautiful - Radcliffe Camera - and cute pubs and shops.
