Boaling Along
Wednesday 24th July- lovely summers day - our last day really as we travel to Gatwick tomorrow to catch flight home Friday. We decided on a leisurely day - cruise up the Avon to Bathampton - a weir and mill ( no longer operating). Bridge built 1870 - toll was a penny - still a toll bridge. Arthur Phillip ( 1st Gov of NSW) buried at Bathampton. Very pretty river stretch. Then went on Hop on/Hop off up in to the hills above Bath - gorgeous houses, several little villages, edge of the Cotswolds, different view of Bath. Coffee and cake on Pulteney Bridge in between the two excursions. Off to dinner at the Pump Room - next to the Roman Baths- great way to end our 8 weeks of travel.
