Yesterday Innisfail about 80km south of here recorded 6 inches (175mm) of rain in 24 hours !!! Whilst I don't know what it ended up being in Cairns is was a lot too
So you can imagine our relief upon waking this morning not to see a cloud in the sky. Only our second really decent day in the week of being here. I took the time to try to remove some of the new mould from the outside of the caravan and canopy and Susie got a bit of washing done
We headed off to get the scenic railway up to Kuranda. We did it many years ago (the other way, comming down that time) and whilst it was OK it was crowded and we did not get a window seat so views and opportunities for decent photography was limited. Last time we will bother with that I think
Kuranda is a beautiful little town but just a day tourist market really. A nice one but seen one, seen them all (a blokes view). We however did get a rather interesting stainless mobile to hang in the house when we get home which might be quite nice
After a couple of hours of browsing we got the skyrail (cable car) back down and it was heaps better then the railway. Great unhindered views in a car of your own with 2 nice stops to look at the scenery. Definatly the way to go if you are up this way
A quick trip up the road to see Crystal Cascades which was pretty but we are getting a bit "Waterfalled out" (you know the European Catherderal or Asian temple syndrome) now
Susie was keen to go to the Yorkies k*** boat club as they had a dozen oysters for $10 special on Saturdays. After 3 glasses of champers and 3 dozen oysters she surrendered and will sleep well tonight. Her sporting injuries are well on the mend now, thanks everybody for their concern, even though just passing a tennis court gives her the shivers

helen We did that trip too and felt the same! Loved the cable car. Glad Susie is recovering! Did a London micro-brewery tour this weekend (Ollie and Georgia's birthday present for Mick.) Weather here amazing, can't believe we finally have a decent summer. Just wish we had A/C! Ollie is doing the Ride 100 around the Olympic 100 mile cycle route in 2 weeks. Riding for charity. Has been on a cycling trip for 8 days along The Rhine. Cycled 800+ km in 7 days. Feeling fit and keen! Ok, back to The Ashes on TV ;) xxx
Lleeanne love the embarassment with Yorkies K***.
