EXCLUSIVE NEWS
It was announced yesterday that Susie Stroud has officially retired from what was at one stage considered a budding tennis career. The decision was made last night in the waiting room of the Cairns Base Hospital Emergency dept when for the 10th time in the last 5 hours she asked 'what happened, was I winning, did I get the point ?'
The day had begun for Susie with promise, and early pedicure and massage then a lunch of Singapore noodles followed by some scouting around for a possible new car to replace the venerable Forester when its days some to an end
Then the challenge was thrown out she said I am going to beat you at tennis so lets go back book a court and see who's the champ. Well in an unfortunate turn of events lunging to get a short ball in the 5th game of the set there was a flurry of tangled legs and she rather ungracefully bit the dust
The paramedics arrived quickly and assesed that she was not seriously injured but needed further treatment at a local medical centre. Ater a 90 minute wait the medical centre they said she was potentially seriously injured and should go to hopsital for observation and tests.
After a 3 hour wait at the hospital, the time the retirement decision was arrived at, she was attended to by a nice doctor who said head injuries in tennis are rare but gave her extensive tests, 2 stitches and sent her home with orders to rest
There were however encouraging signs as the car pulled away from the hopsital with the patient demanding that we go home via KFC for a bucket of "Wicked Wings" and chips. This was an obvious sign recovery was well advanced already

Glad to hear she is not off her tucker and that she still has her fighting spirit in challenging you to battles on the court. Classic stuff Susie, I'm proud of you. xxxx
