The sun came out - hurrah! We spent the morning on the campsite doing schoolwork which then turned into a game of cricket as it was such a beautiful day (PE needs doing as much as maths) and then headed into Lillehammer with the satnav getting us horribly lost before doing it the old-fashioned way and just following the road signs to Maihaugen, a Norwegian Folk Museum.
I have become increasingly fond of these open-air museums as the year has gone on and although we often think we have seen it all before, each one is different and ends up teaching us a little about the country that we are in. Each one normally has a school with a teacher wielding a cane but this time he educated us about the education system in Norway over the last century, and I also learnt that there are 3 extra vowels in Norwegian, all of which are used in the Norwegian word for blueberry jam! M&D were more impressed with their prizes for completing the treasure hunt of a book of postcards and some crayons - beats the sticker/pencil they normally get at least!
We returned to Bob worn out after an afternoon exploring in the sun and headed for Lillehammer camping to enjoy the evening sunshine and the playground... until it got to the point that it was just too beautiful we had to close the blinds - full sunshine at 11pm is very disconcerting and not very conducive to bedtime so thankfully the black-out blinds work well on days like this.
