After the gale-force wind and rain all night we woke late to sunshine this morning but still gale-force winds.... not making me too excited about the ferry later!
We headed off to Skagen this afternoon to see where the North Sea and the Baltic Sea meet and it was fierce ... we didn't go in.
The sand was beautifully white and the sky was blue, and yes, there was something about the light that made me see why artists might well love this place but there were 40+mph winds plus 30mph gusts and we were walking through a sand storm - it was painful and it was hard to appreciate the beauty and once again, I was getting less excited about this ferry later....
We arrived in Hirtshals to catch the ferry and we could barely see the road as the sand was blowing everywhere, the motorhome was rocking as we waited in the queue for check-in and I looked out to sea with dread - whose stupid idea was it to get on a ferry on a day like this???
We got on, we found a cabin that was actually quite nice, M&D found a climbing wall, I stared at the horizon.... we headed out to sea and then headed for bed with the waves crashing all around us and prayed that we made it to morning....
We did.
