Today we left for some fun in Wisconsin. After a disappointing breakfast of cereal with no milk (Super Start Breakfast at Super Eight - as if!), we left St. Cloud. Andrew drove to Minneapolis to arrive at the Mall of America a half hour before it opened. It was a last minute addition to the trip but well worth it. We walked around and found an indoor miniature golf place, Moose Mountain Adventure Golf. We waited until the mall officially opened to be the first players. We had to play fast so we could get on the road. Bethany (of course) won in mini golf, but it was close. We we were driving to get to a small brewery in southern Wisconsin (New Glarus) before the tasting room closed, but then we realized we would be driving past Chippewa Falls, home of Leinenkugel. So we rearranged our plans and took a side trip. It was also well worth it. We walked in to join a tour of the brewery, which is the 7th largest craft brewery in the US and one of the oldest. We did get to see bottles being packaged. Bethany also won a bottle opener for answering corretly a review question of the tour - "What is our most popular brew" - which is Honey Weiss by the way. (We also saw the buckets of actual honey waiting to be dumped into the beer). After the tour we spent a significant amount of time in the gift shop. We are stocked up with gifts and such, including a Leinenkugel sign, which is a canoe paddle. We drove on to Madison for the night. We walked around the UW campus and ate dinner at a local Italian place, Gino's. UW's campus is located in a narrow strip of land between two lakes (they actually use the word "isthmus") and it was packed with students, despite the time of year. Also we saw tons of old alums wearing shirts that read "Grandparents University."
A good time. Also, we can confirm that what we saw in the road in Montana was definitely a Badger and not a Wolverine, given our knowledge of Big Ten mascots.
