WE ARE BACK! We had a more eventful day today than expected. After leaving Madison, WI we drove to New Glarus, WI home of the New Glarus Brewing Company, which makes a popular brew Spotted Cow. We were surprised by how many people had taken a trip to this small town to visit the brewery. They had an audio tour and a tasting. Today we left for some fun in Wisconsin. After a disappointing breakfast of cereal with no milk (Super Start Breakfast at Super Eight - as if!), we left St. Cloud. Andrew drove to Minneapolis to arrive at the Mall of America a half hour before it opened. It was a last minute addition to the trip but well worth it. This morning we took the park drive again, this time in the daylight. Had another bison jam, saw a young coyote (we think) and then stopped in the road to see a pronghorn (antelope). The only other car we saw in the park that morning pulled us behind us and then honked at us to move. I resisted the urge to use a hand sign to show them they were "#1" and waved them past. We're not sure if the sky really is bigger in Montana, but the roads sure are longer. After the second oil change of the trip, we headed east for about 400 miles of driving on Montana roads. To be honest, there wasn't a lot to look at for most of the trip, but at least we could drive fast. Today we drove the Going to the Sun road. We stopped and did a two hour hike that took us past waterfalls and to Avalanche Lake, which is fed by a number of glacier-produced waterfalls. Today, like yesterday, it was a little hazy as temperatures were headed to near-record highs for Glacier, in the mid-nineties or higher. We expected those temps in Moab, but not in Glacier.
